What up with this “Backyard Series“, anyway?
Professional musicians train to play with 100% accuracy 100% of the time. The entry point of vocational music is near-perfection. Moreover, live music is increasingly seen as a luxury to many communities around the world. These conditions make playing and watching orchestral music feel so weighty, so much that classical music feels inaccessible to most people.
This is why I (and some inspiring hosts) created The Backyard Series in 2024. I gather local professional and college students to perform a one-day rehearsal and concert for communities in the Inland Empire. These concerts serve as a medium to play and enjoy music just for fun. It is more play than it is performance.
For the love of music and for the joy of bringing people together, The Backyard Series exists to foster community through live music, great food, and lots of laughter.
